How to start a club

  1. Gather five or more fellow students who share your interest and meet with a Student Life and Leadership Coordinator.
  2. Visit the Student Life and Leadership office on your campus to complete the form to provide your Statement of Purpose, list your charter members and propose an advisor. (The advisor can be a full-time or adjunct faculty member or non-faculty career employee.)
  3. Final approval of all organizations rests with the college administration. Once chartered, the organization becomes a recognized group on campus and is subject to all policies, privileges and regulations of the college.

Student Government Association

Represent your fellow students by joining the Student Government Association.

SGA members voice the interests, concerns and needs of students in campus and college decisions to college administration and state legislators. Each SGA belongs to the Florida College System Student Government Association (FCSSGA), which serves as the representative voice of Florida Colleges throughout Florida.

Each year, SGA members can travel to the annual FCSSGA state convention and regional meetings and leadership retreats across Florida. As a currently enrolled SPC student, you can vote for who represents you as an officer in the SGA. Learn more about FCSSGA.

Requirements to Participate

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average for senator
  • A minimum 2.5 grade point average and must have completed six (6) credit hours at SPC for officer
  • Be currently enrolled in six (6) credit hours
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

Student Government Application

St. Petersburg College is proud of its academic organizations and honor societies, including the Golden Key International Honour Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

PTKPhi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the International Honor Society for two-year colleges. The group has chapters on each main campus and provides opportunities to:

  • Develop your leadership skills
  • Enjoy fellowship opportunities with fellow students
  • Attend local, state and international conferences
  • Increase scholarship opportunities
  • Gain rewards from service projects

To become a member, you will need to have completed at least 12 semester hours. GPA requirements vary by chapter, so consult your campus PTK advisor for more details.
