Making connections through internships
Internships help you connect academic theory to real-world skills and can provide valuable work experience. St. Petersburg College connects students with local employers like: Telemundo Tampa, a local Spanish-speaking television station; Clear Channel Broadcasting's 970 WFLA Radio; and SPC's Marketing and Strategic Communications office.
Study literature and languages abroad
As an SPC student, you can take part in exciting and educational trips around the world through our Study Abroad programs. Our communications faculty teach literature, composition and foreign language classes in locations like New Zealand, Australia, Germany, China and Spain. SPC also offers scholarships to pay your way.
American Sign Language Studies
SPC now offers an A.A. transfer plan in American Sign Language Studies that transfers to our bachelor's degree in Educational Studies and Community Leadership. This degree path meets the minimum requirement of a bachelor's level education for certification as an interpreter.
Prepare for tomorrow's media careers
Start at SPC and earn a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications at a university to prepare for a public relations or media career. The U.S. Bureau of Labor reports that employment for public relations specialists are on the rise.
Learn a foreign language
If you want to earn a bachelor's degree but are lacking two consecutive years of a foreign language, we can help. St. Petersburg College offers credit classes in Spanish, French and American Sign Language.
