Our program prepares you to become a veterinary technician,
who uses scientific knowledge and skills to benefit society through

knowledge.
Career outlook
Employment is expected to grow much faster than average as many jobs go unfilled because of a shortage of veterinary technicians. Also, pet owners are becoming more willing to pay for advanced veterinary care.

SPC's A.S. and B.A.S. degrees in Veterinary Nursing (Technology) are accredited by the Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
AAHA
SPC’s College of Veterinary Nursing
recently received full accreditation from the American Animal Hospital
Association, signifying the highest level of medical care within the
veterinary medical profession. Only three of the 221 veterinary
technology programs accredited by the American Veterinary Medical
Association are also AAHA accredited.

The following scholarships are available to all Veterinary Nursing students. You will need to apply through the St. Petersburg College Foundation to be eligible.
Connie Dell Davis Scholarship
- Second year student
- Essay detailing student's compassion for animals, experiences.
- Foundations application and essay submitted to Dean
Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation
- Hillsborough County Resident
- Second semester freshman or later
- 500 word essay on where applicant sees themselves in three years
- Three instructor recommendations
- Foundations application, essay, and recommendations submitted to the Dean
Suncoast Avian Society
- Baccalaureate student
- FAFSA required
- Demonstrated special interest and experience with birds
- Foundations application and letter with avian interest and experience detailed submitted to the Dean
- Foundations application, essay, and recommendations submitted to the Dean
Belcher Scholarship
- Student must be in a financial aid qualified certificate, lower division, or upper division Allied Health Program
- Student must be currently enrolled in class during the session of the application and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Award amount—$500
- Award covers tuition and fees with the remainder provided to the student
- Student must specifically request the Dr. John C. Belcher Endowed Scholarship on the scholarship application

Healthcare Scholarship

Kelly Stadler Animal Lovers Memorial Scholarship
- Available to AS and BAS students. This scholarship
can cover tuition, books, and fees. Two $750 scholarships are expected
to be awarded annually. Candidates must be in good academic standing
with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0.
- Candidates must submit a one page essay describing
why they are pursuing a degree in Veterinary Nursing. Financial need
will also be considered. The essay should be double spaced, using
12-point font. The essay should be submitted to the Dean.
