This program prepares you to work as an officer, supervisor or manager in law enforcement agencies, correctional institutions, juvenile courts, crime laboratories, private security, or other legal or public service fields.
Due to state authorization requirements for distance learning that are
particular to each state, students who reside in Massachusetts,
Minnesota and Nevada cannot enroll in online classes at St. Petersburg
College as long as they are residents of those states.
Our flexible Associate in Science Degree in Criminal Justice Technology gives you a foundation in public safety and an education credential if you want to move up in your career. You choose your specialty based on your interests or experience. This A.S. degree transfers to our bachelor's degree in Public Safety Administration.
If you have completed one of SPC's training academies, you can earn academic credit towards our A.S. degree in Criminal Justice Technology.

You must successfully complete a Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) Basic Recruit Program, such as one of SPC's training academies, to become a certified officer through FDLE.
