    Local employment

    • Pinellas County ranks second in the state for manufacturing employment and third in the state for number of manufacturing firms.
    • In 2013, the manufacturing industry employed 30,391 people in Pinellas County, the fifth largest employment sector in the county.
    • In 2014, the Tampa-St. Pete Metropolitan Statistical Area exported more than $5.8 billion worth of manufacturing products, including computer and electronics parts, chemical and food products and machinery, all of which require specialized processes to produce.
