Commencement Ceremony Instructions

    Fall 2017 Commencement Ceremony

    Commencement is the formal celebration of the degree you have earned. It is a time for you to receive well-deserved recognition for your hard work.

    Ceremonies begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

    You must choose which ceremony you wish to attend. Go to: https://web.spcollege.edu/survey/24380

    Check-In Time:

    • 8:30 a.m. for the morning ceremony
    • 12 p.m. for afternoon ceremony

    Gold honor cords will be distributed to candidates:

    • 8:30 - 9:15 a.m. for the morning ceremony
    • 12-12:45 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony


    Parking is free.

  • Special Needs

    Graduates with special needs should contact SPC's Accessibility Services at 727-341-3398 to make arrangements at least one week prior to the ceremony.


    Guest seating is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets are not required.

    Cap and Gown

    Purchase your cap and gown from the Barnes & Noble campus bookstores.

    Regalia/Dress (cap, gown, tassel)

    The day of the ceremony arrive dressed in your cap and gown. The suggested attire for all candidates is business/casual attire. Ladies wear comfortable shoes as the processional is long. Your personal belongings (handbags, keys, etc.) should be secured with a friend or family member.

    Honor Cords

    The GPA used to compute honors eligibility is based on the prior term cumulative GPA and can be found on your unofficial transcript in MySPC.

    Decorum and Protocol

    The commencement ceremony is a formal event. Decorum and courtesy are very important for candidates and guests. Please use good judgement and celebrate your accomplishment in a way not to disrupt others.

    • Please plan for a two (2) hour program.
    • All candidates and their guests are expected to remain until the entire ceremony is over.
    • Turn off cell phones for the ceremony.


    A professional photographer from GradImages will be on stage to take your picture as you greet the president. To see proofs and order copies of professional photos taken, log in with your last name and the year of the ceremony at GradImages.


    Diplomas will be mailed to the mailing address on your commencement checklist two to four weeks after all graduation requirements are verified and the degree conferred.

    If you did not register for the commencement ceremony, the name on your diploma will be the name in your MySPC student account. Make sure your address is updated and accurate since that is the address your diploma will be sent. Honors designation on your diploma will be based on your final cumulative GPA. All financial holds, including Exit Interviews, must be cleared before the diploma will be released.

    A $15 diploma fee for a duplicate or replacement is required. Contact graduationquestions@spcollege.edu if you have any questions.
