The Statewide Course Numbering System (SCNS) was created by the Florida Department of Education to assist colleges in assigning course identification numbers to similar classes at all public and many private higher education institutions across the state. This system is in place to help ensure the transferability of courses between participating institutions. In essence, a course taken at one institution is guaranteed to transfer in as the same course at SPC provided SPC offers that course. If SPC does not offer the same course, then elective credit is awarded (1999). No other credit can be awarded in these instances and the college does not have the discretion of awarding other credits.
Equivalent courses at different institutions are identified by the same prefixes and same last three digits of the course number and are guaranteed to be transferable between the participating institutions that offer the course. For questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
