Comprehensive Standard 3.2.8

Qualified/Administrative Academic Officers

The institution has qualified administrative and academic officers with the experience and competence to lead the institution.

Judgment of Compliance: Compliance

Narrative/Justification for Judgment of Compliance:

St. Petersburg College administrators and academic officers have the necessary credentials, experience, and abilities for the positions they hold. The institution employs competent, qualified faculty members in accordance with guidelines summarized in 6Hx23-2.02 General Employment Rules and 6Hx23-2.022 Qualification of Instructional, Administrative and Professional Personnel Rule. Faculty are recruited nationally to help ensure the best pool of candidates are considered. Positions are advertised in higher education publications, nationally known job boards and niche publications directed at those in specific academic areas. Applicant pools are reviewed to ensure diversity. As evidenced in the Administrative and Academic Officers Roster listed below, administrators and academic officers hold appropriate educational credentials and experience to lead the institution. The roster includes position titles, names, educational qualifications, and summary of documented experience. Comprehensive information is provided in the hyperlinked job descriptions and resumes/curriculum vitae. St. Petersburg College makes available information on the credentials, qualifications, and experience of administrators and academic officers through the College's Office of Human Resources. Official copies of transcripts, documenting qualifications, are kept in the permanent files.

The organizational structure of St. Petersburg College is the responsibility of the President, who employs each officer. St. Petersburg College posts its Organizational Chart online. The administrative and academic officers of the College include the senior vice presidents, vice presidents, associate vice presidents, provosts, deans, general counsel, and other senior administrators (approved by the Board on recommendation of the President) with administrative responsibilities. The job descriptions for each of the positions contain a section detailing the required education and experience an employee must hold. These requirements are also used to identify capable and competent candidates to fill these positions.

Administrative personnel receive a written performance evaluation in each year pursuant to 6Hx23-2.10 Evaluation of College Personnel Rule and Procedure. The purpose of the annual evaluation procedure is to provide the administrative and academic officers with information on their professional development and their performance. The entire evaluation process consists of three parts: the employee’s self-assessment, the supervisor’s assessment, and the mutual creation of a development plan (Sample Performance Objectives Plan).
